Emily was born and raised in San Diego, CA, and began her dance journey with ballet. She joined a local junior Ballroom dance company, training and competing in various International Latin dance styles. Emily then went on to join Majesty in Motion Dance Company, where she spent many years training and performing both partnerwork and solo shine routines in Salsa and Cha Cha, quickly rising to the Semi-Pro level teams as the youngest dancer in the company. Over the years, she fell in love with social dancing, the people in the dance community, and the infinite ways that focusing on technique and creativity allowed her to grow and express herself.
During college, Emily spent time training in Zouk, Kizomba, and Bachata. After moving to Seattle, Emily joined the Seattle Slaydies Performance Team, where she met Angela Nedkov! Emily also worked at Briora Ballroom Dance Studio as a full time DVIDA-trained Dance Instructor where she taught American Rhythm and Smooth genres, among other styles, and choreographed first dances for wedding clients. Along the way, Emily has danced on many local and satellite teams, including for Iroko Dance Academy, and loves choreographing her own pieces, too. She is beyond excited to be teaching at Pivot Dance Emporium!
Kaushal's passion for salsa ignited in 2010. His competitive drive emerged quickly, landing him on the podium at the India International Dance Congress by 2013. That same year, he placed 3rd in the Semi-Pro Couples category at the India International Dance Congress, and followed it up with another 3rd place in the Semi-Pro Solo division in 2014. He has been teaching since 2014 and have choreographed and taught at Palladium India.
In 2018, he transitioned to the New York-style Salsa On2, undertaking intensive training with world-renowned teams like Yamulee, Empire Mambo, and most recently with Patrick & Scarlett at Dance Vancouver Studio. This dedication led to performances and competitions, where he has earned top honors—including 1st place in Men’s Shines Team and the Semi-Pro Couple Showcase at the Toronto Salsa Congress.
His dance vocabulary extends to mambo, pachanga, and Afro-Cuban, but his philosophy remains rooted in growth: "No matter how far I’ve come, I still feel like I’m just beginning—there's always more to learn, refine, and discover."
